Turandot, Tosca & Le Villi
John Bryden, MA, ARCM, ARCO, an international concert pianist and organist, who has given concerts in venues ranging from Prindeton to Kathmandu to Wigmore Hall. A former member of the National Youth Orchestra of Britain, John is a member of the Dartington Piano Duo and has played across Britain and Europe as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician.
Check in at London Heathrow airport for your morning flight to Pisa. You are met on arrival and transferred to your 3* Albergo Celide, located just outside the city walls of Lucca.
After breakfast you visit the Romanesque Cathedral of San Martino where Puccini played the organ and where Tintoretto’s Last Supper is on display, followed by a museum visit and a visit to the Church of San Giovanni. Afternoon visit to Giacomo Puccini Museum. Late afternoon lecture followed by the evening festival opera in Torre del Lago: Le Villi.
Having eaten breakfast you will visit the Museo Nazionale which is housed in 15th century Villa Guinigi. The afternoon is free followed by a lecture. The evening festival at Torre del Lago is Turandot.
This morning you will visit the Palazzo Pfanner, the Basilica di San Frediano and Piazza dell’Anfiteatro. The afternoon lecture is followed by a visit to Villa Museo Puccini. The evening festival is Tosca.
The morning excursion is to the gardens of Villa Reale di Marlia followed by Celle die Puccini, including the Puccini family home museum where he spent his childhood summers. The afternoon is free to enjoy.
Following breakfasts you are taken to Pisa airport for your return flight to London Heathrow
