India's Golden Triangle & Tiger Safari
Day 1 & Day 2
Depart London Heathrow on your overnight flight to Delhi. On arrival you are transferred to your hotel in the heart of Delhi for your 2 night stay. 4* Heritage Maidens Hotel is located on the banks of the River Yamuna close to the quaint bazaars of Chandi Chowk.
Explore Delhi, India's vibrant, hectic, awe-inspiring capital city. Begin your tour with a rickshaw ride in Old Delhi, visit the 17th century mosque of Jama Masjid and then ride through the narrow streets of Delhi's lively bazaar.
Leaving the aromas of the street food behind you move on to New Delhi where you visit Humayun's Tomb and Qutab Minar - India's tallest stone tower. Other highlights of the day include India Gate, the Parliament Building and Rashtrapati Bhawan.
This morning you board the Gatimaan Express to Agra, the home of the truly magical Taj Mahal. On arrival in Agra you visit Agra Fort, an enormous UNESCO listed complex with its red hued walls finished in 1573.
Crossing the city you visit the Taj Mahal and the sunset visit ensures you experience the magical aura of the pink and red hues of the white marble.
Overnight stay in the Trident Hotel Agra.
The coach this morning travels to the 16th century ancient Indian capital of Fatehpur Sikri. The deserted city has been preserved in almost the exact state as it was 400 years ago.
After exploring the Mughul Empire you continue to Bharatpur for lunch. Boarding your train to Sawai Madhopur where you transfer to your hotel, Taj Sawai Madhopur Lodge, a former Maharajas hunting lodge.
This morning is your first game drive in Ranthambore National Park. Enjoy a ride in an open top vehicle giving you a chance to spot leopards, panthers, marsh crocodiles and sloths but the most popular resident is the tiger. The park is the only place in India that the tiger can be seen in the wild.
This afternoon you will have a second game drive to ensure that you have the best chance possible to view the tigers.
Travelling by coach you travel to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Popularly known as the 'pink city' as the buildings were built with the local pink sandstone. You stay here for the next 3 nights.
Exploration of the city of Jaipur begins with the City Palace, the home of the current Maharaja of Jaipur. The building was completed in 1728, is enclosed with high walls and set in beautiful gardens. The tour then continues to the 18th century Astronomical Observatory, a splendid complex featuring a number of early geometric devices for tracking plants.
The tour ends at the spectacular Palace of the Winds, an opulent red and pink sandstone building created for royal ladies to overlook the city without being seen. Afternoon at leisure.
Today your guide will take you to Amber to visit the magnificent Amber Fort. Ascend the hill by jeep and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The fort is a sprawling complex of courtyards and halls, the rooms have beautiful wall paintings with mirrors and precious stones inlaid in the walls.
Leave by coach this morning for your journey to Patan, where you are transferred by camel cart to the Patan Mahal Palace Hotel. Patan town gives you the opportunity to see life in rural India and your guided walking tour takes you from the normal hustle and bustle of an Indian city.
