Hiking on the Amalfi Coast - private tour
DAY 1 Fly from your chosen UK airport to Naples and on arrival you will have a private transfer to your hotel in the Sorrento area. This evening is free for you to enjoy the facilities of the hotel and take a meal in one of the numerous restaurants.
DAY 2 The first day’s walk begins by a meeting with your guide for the day. Your first hike is the Path of the Gods. The distance is 7.5km with 400m elevation. The paths are mule tracks, stone or dirt and is only suitable for expert walkers. The walk starts in Nocelle to Colle Serra and return and is one of the most famous hikes along the Amalfi coast. The reason for the fame is the constant ups and downs, the fantastic sheer vertical drops and lands cultivated in terraces. You arrive at the final destination and the highlight of this hike, Punta Campanella, which is united, under the sea, to the stunning island of Capri. From the spectacular belvedere looking to the west we see siren archipelagos and swirling shapes. There is much to learn here regarding the colours of the Mediterranean lands. known as the Path of the Gods. Your guide will explain about the botanical features of the region including orchids in the spring months. There are a variety of birds including the kestrel, peregrine falcon and buzzard alongside insects, butterflies, lizards and small harmless snakes.
DAY 3 Meet your guide at the hotel after breakfast for your hike into the Ferriere Valley. The distance is 4km with an elevation gain of 360m - 90m. The paths follow a road, forest paths with some rocky and uneven places. The walk begins in Pontone and finishes in Amalfi and is only suitable for the expert hiker. Along today's walk the highlights will include an aqueduct and remains or paper mills and an ancient forge. On approaching Amalfi you will see the Church of San Eustachio, the Tower of Ziro and finally the Cathedral of Amalfi. Along the forest path you will see holm oak, ash, chestnut and rare ferns. There will be Italian frog, toad, salamander, dragonfly and butterflies. The afternoon will be spent at your leisure.
DAY 4 Your final day starts after breakfast where you will meet your guide at the hotel for the Punta Campanella walk. The distance is 7.5km with an elevation of 628m and is only suitable for expert walkers. The walk starts in Termini and follows a little road, ancient stone pave pathways, paths of stone and dirt. Follow the ancient pilgrim pathway that takes you as high as Mount San Costanzo and as far as Punta Campanella, through a landscape of times gone by. Mount San Constanzo can evolve mythical foundations and ancient pilgrimages, a landscape of days gone by of Benedictine vineyards, olive trees and farmlands. On your hike you will see pine wood, carob trees, mastic trees, Jupiter's beard, euphorbia, rosemary and spring orchids. There will be birds of prey, migratory birds, insects, reptiles and small mammals. Along the walk you will see the warning and defence towers of the Saracens, a lighthouse, the archaeological remains of the Minerva temple and the Church of San Constanzo. You can enjoy views of Capri and Leranto.
DAY 5 Following breakfast your private transfer will take you to Naples Airport for your return flight to the UK.
You may also wish to extend your stay in the Sorrento area or possibly in Naples.

Please Note – this holiday is only suitable for experienced hikers as the walks and trails at times are testing. Suitable clothing and footwear must also be worn depending on the time of year. Long trousers, hiking boots and raincoats during the autumn and winter months.
